During the day Amelia uses her visual sensibilities and people skills to support the important work at Edible Schoolyard New Orleans, and her offtime is spent printing, binding, and teaching at Baskerville, of which she is co-founder. She has taught letterpress and bookbinding at Women’s Studio Workshop, Glassworks, the State University of New York Plattsburgh. Her editioned artists’ books have been exhibited internationally and can be found at Abecedarian Gallery, Vamp & Tramp Booksellers, and in a number of libraries and private collections. She adores Valentines in their darkest permutations.
Tyler Harwood, proprietor of Planetary Magnetics Corporation, is a letterpress printer based in New Orleans, Louisiana. He learned to love wood type and historic printing techniques at Hatch Show PRint and the San Francisco Center for the Book before becoming a co-founder of Baskerville. Since then he has printed music posters, greeting cards, calendars, and business cards for all kinds of folks. He also printed 100 full decks of poker cards! You can find Tyler riding his tricycle that looks like a UFO around downtown or spinning Honky-Tonk records.
Jessica Peterson is a letterpress printer, book artist and teacher. Her award-winning artists’ books are collected by special collections libraries around the country, including at Yale University, Emory University, University of Utah, Duke University and UCLA. Her creative work has been recognized by The Windgate Foundation, The College Book Art Association, and The Kentucky Arts Festival. In 2014, she was awarded an individual artists’ fellowship from The Alabama State Council on the Arts. She is the proprietor of The Southern Letterpress and an instructor in the MFA Book Arts Department at The University of Alabama. Jessica has worked on collaborative, community-based artist books projects as a visiting artist at both Longwood University and Florida State University.
