Liz Munger of the Paper Nest taught “The Platen Primer,” Baskerville’s first workshop, in June of 2014. The two 1-day workshops were sold out and really fun. The course description is below; we offer introductory letterpress workshops like this one frequently so new folks can get accustomed to our presses and studio.
Introduction to Letterpress Printing: The Platen Primer
Have you wanted to try your hand at letterpress printing, but didn’t know where to begin? This workshop will give you everything you need to operate a platen press, the kind of presses we have at Baskerville. In this one-day workshop we will cover general safety and maintenance, and the basics of printing with hand-set type, photopolymer plates, and linoleum. Printing preparation, registration (for single and multiple runs), various printing techniques, paper, tools, and resources will be discussed. Everyone will leave with letterpress printed ephemera.
